In the Studio: Inspiration

Inspiration. Interesting word that. You can be inspired by something very specific, or it
can happen very randomly. As I've been working on these prints over the past year I've found inspiration in all kinds of places and from all kinds of sources. I can be inspired by the way the sun hits a building, or the way certain letters are formed and shaped by a specific font. I see a red somewhere and know I just have to use it in a print, and an entire piece is created around that color.

While working, I'll remember something that I read or saw years ago, and try to find that snippet of information again because it triggered the idea I want to explore. Then there are other artists I've discovered along the way whose approach to picture making I find very inspirational. I've rediscovered art movements that I learned about decades ago, but now, doing the work that I am, have taken on a new significance, and reacquainting myself with them has proven to be very inspiring. Then there are silly things like watching tv and seeing an image flash by on the screen, which gets the brain buzzing and provides the seed of an idea for a new print.

And everyday, as I watch Mitch spending hour upon hour writing code, converting the
artwork of our new website into a language that the webbed-wide-world can understand (which I find mind-boggling, insanely complicated, and beyond comprehension) I am immensely inspired to keep on, keeping on.
