The snow started falling around 2:00 Tuesday afternoon along the lakefront. We went out
Wednesday morning around 7:30 and it was still blowing and drifting.

We never walked out our door in L.A. and into a scene like this!

Lake Shore Drive was closed. Three accidents, within half-an-hour of each other and within blocks of one another in the northbound lanes, resulted in traffic back-up of almost 2,000 vehicles stuck along a 3 mile stretch of the Drive as snow fell several inches an hour with winds gusting up to 70 mph.

The city closed the Drive in both directions as soon as reports came in about the traffic snarl. The only cars we saw on LSD were the ones hooked up to a stream of tow trucks which were still removing automobiles from the night before. Some people stayed in their cars or city buses stuck in the pile, for over 10 hours. The snow had stopped by the time we took this pic around 8:30a.

Snow started falling again around 9:00a while this couple was trying to dig out their car.

By 10:00 it was snowing again and the wind had picked up. The camera is not playing tricks,
visiblity was about 50 feet.

The "incliment" weather did not set a snowfall record, this one came in third in the
history books at 20.2 inches. But we will always remember the Blizzard of 2011 - our first.

I feel your pain. It was in the mid 50's this morning when I got out of bed. Had to wear my wool Ugg slippers and a sweater to ward off the chill. ;-]

Oh, those demanding movie hours. Happy to say we don't miss it - the hours or the business. Unfortunately, it's what happens when you have to get out of bed at 3:00 a.m. on a February morning in LA!  Hope alls well.

Hey, Chicago looks just like Syracuse! I'm so happy the storm pretty much died out before it got to us -- we already have enough snow.

Mitch! You're officially a snowman now although couldn't tell it was you with all those layers on. Loved the shot with the LA Tan. Highs today will be in the low 70s and Mark & I are going to Carpinteria this weekend.

Ok, so you finally got a taste... I hope you enjoyed it. This may be Mitch's first, but too Jim!?

My opinion: snow is one thing, cruel temps are another :)

Remember the still record setting storm of 1967? I was a kid, but it made quite an impression. And now Mitch has his own blizzard memory to take with him into old age!
