Imagine standing out in the heat and cold for 124 years, battered by
wind, rain, snow and
air filled with coal dust and soot. You might look at little worse for wear.

If you're lucky, a team of workers will begin will begin a gentle cleaning process that will

Architect Solon Beman's 1885 Fine Arts Building is undergoing a long needed exterior
restoration. Watching the emerging, original colors and textures of the marble columns and rusticated granite is a pretty amazing sight. I knew the building didn't look this dark when it was built, but I had no idea that the contrast would be so stark as workmen remove over a century of accumulated grit and grime.
