Queens For A Day

As I looked through a slide show of images of the most amazing hats from Royal Ascot
presented by sfgate, I couldn't help but think of drag queens. I know that it probably isn't pc to use the term "drag queen" but so many of these over-the-top toppers, seemed to have been made specifically for one glorious drag fashion parade.
The Queen herself, appeared in several different millinery ensembles, and this one was
one of her best. These three girls look like they have just stepped off a gay pride float, and this hair chandelier would be worthy of the "Best Balancing Act" award in any competition.
Even a royal princess could use a true queen's help with these millinery mistakes by
Princess Anne and Princess Beatrice. And, this peacockian number would look spectacular on anyone. Any number of girls would love fluttering about in either one of these feathery concoctions.
The only real queens who showed up were asked to leave, while the only queen posing
as a real woman, Joan Collins, sipped tea in a grandstand box.
From fruit baskets, to flower baskets, Ascot provides queens of all shapes, sizes and
sexual identities with a decades worth of inspiration.
